12/19/2023 0 Comments Dangerous dbox![]() ![]() I'm puzzled by the anti-summing sentiment. But, that doesn't make what it does offer any less useful. Sure, a summing box doesn't offer you all of the benefits of a large format console in one rack space and for a tiny fraction of the cost. But, that doesn't mean that analog summing is some fairy tale or trick devised to deceptively separate fools from their money. I, personally, prefer mixing on an analog mixer for all of the reasons mentioned above. Now, the difference might not be worth it to you. The difference cannot only be measured, but it's obvious and apparent even listening casually. I say mix a song with and then without it, and see if the difference really, can even be measured. To me, this is a classic case of an old idea (mixing from the DAW on an analogue desk) and taking it to the ridiculous minimum of taking signals out and the back in, in order to gain some phantom sende of 3D or "imaging" or "space", or "putting the sound through iron". ![]() I'd rather use an analogue mixer, or simply mix ITB. I have yet to like these, even though I have tried them. you have to take it out to the compressor, and then into this box. Say you want to use a compressor on a vocal. This box is simply an analogue signal mixer.ΔΆ.- No routing options. Maybe someone can shine a light on this before I consider buying one in the future? By looking at the connections on the back, I don't get how the D-Box integrates to it. Also, working in a strictly digital realm, do you think that this is something that could benefit your mixes, even if ever so slightly? How are they supposed to work? do you connect your interface into this unit and somehow it converts your mixes? It seems like a lot of people prefer to mix into this box to get some harmonic distortion, but I am kind of lost as to how you'd connect it to your rig.
